Villanova University in Pennsylvania will demolish a structure to make room for a future $150 million building, called Vic Maggitti Hall, that will house the university’s library. Construction will begin in summer 2024 after Kennedy Hall is demolished.
The 150,000-square-foot building will contain the Falvey Library and feature five floors dedicated to providing students with technology-enabled spaces.
Vic Maggitti Hall will provide areas showcasing rare and distinctive collections as well as reading, teaching and storage spaces.
The hall will offer an expanded digital scholarship suite to provide faculty and students with digital tools and techniques for research. It will also include additional on-site general collections in browsable, compact shelves for viewing. Vic Maggitti Hall will provide dedicated event spaces for lectures, conferences and other programming.
The Learning Commons, a floor dedicated to the student learning experience, will provide a large, centralized academic resource for students. It will include a writing center, tutoring studio, learning support services and the center for access, success and achievement.
Vic Maggitti Hall will provide space for the Research and Teaching Commons. This area will house a collection of teams and resources for teachers and students.
The hall will feature a large main entrance leading visitors into an atrium. There will also be an increase in study seats, meeting rooms and dedicated graduate student space.
