The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) awarded $41.2 million to four projects to improve water and wastewater systems. The projects include improving water treatment plants, building treatment systems and relocating water lines.
The Sharyland Water Supply Corp., which services Hidalgo County, will receive $35.9 million to relocate approximately 26.5 miles of waterlines. The project will also improve function, create redundancies and increase treatment capacity at two water treatment plants. The funding comes from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), including $25.9 million in loans and $10 million in principal forgiveness.
The Millersview-Doole Water Supply Corp. will receive $2.5 million in principal forgiveness from the DWSRF to help plan, design and build a treatment system and chlorine dioxide system. The corporation, which serves four counties in Central Texas, will use any remaining funds to improve its pump station sites.
The city of Bartlett in Bell and Williamson counties will receive $1.9 million to complete planning and design for a wastewater treatment plant. The city will also rehabilitate or replace around 10,000-linear-feet of gravity sewers and 20 manholes, replace a lift station with a duplex submersible lift station and develop an asset management plan. The funding comes from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), including $850,000 in loans and $1 million in principal forgiveness.
The Arimak Water Supply Corp. in Kerr County will use $975,023 to install a radium reduction system and variable frequency drive pumps at two well locations. The corporation will also install a 20,000-gallon ground storage tank. The funding is principal forgiveness from the CWSRF.
