Graham Independent School District (GISD) officials are asking voters to approve a pair of bond measures totaling $38 million to construct classrooms and build a student multipurpose facility for sports and extracurricular programs. Election day is May 4. Early voting will take place between April 22 and 30.
Proposition A would consolidate the district’s elementary campuses from three to two. The district would demolish Woodland Elementary campus – except for the gymnasium. The district would still retain ownership of the Woodland property for a future campus.
Plans include adding 20 classrooms to Pioneer Elementary for two additional grade levels. The district would add a science and computer lab, build a gymnasium, expand the cafeterias, develop parking for faculty and events and add an ICC 500 Rated Safety Corridor — a certified storm shelter. In addition, GISD would renovate the school’s library and playground.
The proposition would also help expand dining space and renovate restrooms for Crestview Elementary.
Proposition B would allow GISD to build a fully enclosed 60- to-70-yard student multipurpose facility. The district would design the turfed facility to accommodate band, dance, cheer, soccer, softball, baseball, track, football, summer strength and conditioning programs. The facility would also provide space and amenities to host 7-on-7 tournaments. The project’s scope calls for marking the field for band/football, soccer, softball and baseball.
The city of Graham is 89 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
